Eat Think Vote: Columbia-Kootenay-Southern Rockies

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to attend a community event in the framework of the non-partisan Eat Think Vote campaign for food sovereignty in Canada on Tuesday, April 22 at 11-1 PM Pacific on zoom.

This event is being organized by local members of the National Farmers Union and the Central Kootenay Food Policy Council in order to build relationships and advance conversations about food sovereignty, which is the right of people and communities to determine their own food systems. We will discuss things such as:

  • Regional food system resilience

  • The affordability of food and farming

  • Governance of land and water that ensures our ability to feed our communities now and for many generations to come

Format

We are inviting candidates from all political parties to attend this meeting. We believe that sharing the same space will help generate a meaningful discussion.

The zoom call will begin with a brief presentation setting the context of our regional food system, followed by an opportunity for each of the candidates to share their answers to pre-written questions which they will receive ahead of time. We will finish with a discussion period where voters can ask questions or share their concerns about food in our region with candidates.
